FROM THE 16th CENTURY TO THE PRESENT

The Begiristain cider house is in Ikaztegieta, between the regions of Tolosaldea and Goierri, at the very heart of Gipuzkoa. It is a traditional cider house that has managed to preserve all of the charm of the 16th-century Iturrioz farmhouse and is currently one of the 5 oldest farmhouses in the area. Originally, our main business did not include cider production; in the cider house the work we did related to livestock, vegetable production and similar. We still have the cattle troughs in the dining area.

You will get the chance to enjoy a traditional cider house meal in the area where we keep our 16th-century barrels, along with a unique and special dining area.

UPHOLDING TRADITION

OVER 100 YEARS OF HISTORY.

It was Jose Gregorio Begiristain who started producing cider in the Iturrioz farmhouse, for sale.  In 1932, he produced over 100,000 in one year, using natural products. He produced the cider in the farmhouse and then transported it in ox carts to Calle Herreros in Tolosa, to be sold in the cider house where the bar Orbela now stands.

After 1990, the premises were given a revamp and, by integrating cutting-edge technologies with age-old traditional methods, we managed to produce a natural cider of exceptional quality.
